Between 2% and 5% of children suffer from high blood pressure, often undiagnosed.
Untreated or uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause :
- a heart attack
- heart failure
- a cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
- dementia kidney failure
- blindness
Risk factors for hypertension include :
- heredity
- high salt and alcohol consumption
- a sedentary lifestyle
- obesity
